Breakthrough New York teaching fellow alum Sabrina Boutselis was recently awarded a Fullbright English Teaching Assistantship in Galicia, Spain. During her semester abroad in Madrid, Spain, Sabrina became interested in bilingual education and cross-cultural understanding. Speaking to Holly Foster of Hamilton News, Sabrina said that she hopes to explore her interest in immersive language learning by “[creating] a bilingual film-watching club or book club at my placement school with an emphasis on exploring Hispanic cultures across Spain, Latin America, and the United States.”

Sabrina was a teaching fellow at Breakthrough New York in 2018, and received the Susan Blum Teaching Excellence Award. The award is given to teaching fellows who demonstrate the most excellence and growth and teaching throughout the summer program.

Congratulations, Sabrina! We’re so excited to see what you go on to do.
