Harold Levy, former New York City Schools Chief and long time education equity advocate, passed away last week at the age of 65. Mr. Levy worked to reform New York City’s education system, pushing for higher salaries for teachers and creating a program to recruit teachers. A fierce supporter of students from low-income backgrounds, he served on Breakthrough’s board from 2016-17.
