As part of its education strategy, Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies invest in organizations that are building an equitable society in which Black and Latinx students from low-income backgrounds are able to access a high-quality, culturally relevant K12 education that empowers them to achieve social and economic liberation.
Schusterman Family Philanthropies has reinvested in Breakthrough with a three-year general operating grant. As a leader in building and diversifying the teacher profession, Breakthrough fits into the Schusterman Family Philanthropies’ teacher preparation investment area, which supports efforts to increase the number of teachers of color and prepare teachers to deliver culturally responsive instruction. This investment includes a challenge for new foundations to join the Breakthrough community of funding partners. For more information about this challenge, please write to Jeremy Gough at jgough@breakthroughcollaborative.org.
