Breakthrough students enroll in college-prep high school programs at more than twice the rate of their low-income and minority peers.
In collaboration with the Breakthrough National, Campus Recruiters lead campaigns on their campuses to recruit excellent candidates for the national teaching internship. Their chief duties include building a vibrant teacher alumni cohort, engaging strategic campus constituents (i.e. student groups and college offices), facilitating information sessions, supporting applicants in their essay and lesson plan responses and completing all other tasks relevant to recruitment outcome goals.
100% of Campus Recruiters are Breakthrough Teacher Alumni. We know these folks are best positioned to act as effective ambassadors for Breakthrough. They model the rigor and high expectations of the Breakthrough culture. They are already campus leaders. In recruiting they gain a sense of the national scope of Breakthrough’s work and build community organizing and campaigning skills.
In Summer 2011 more than 1 out of every 3 teachers matriculated from Campus Recruiter Colleges.
