"Breakthrough has made me a better
leader, learner and achiever by giving me a sense of empowerment
and allowing me to see that I can truly make a difference.”
-Rafael Trujillo, Breakthrough teacher
[Breakthrough
alumni] have experienced first-hand the extraordinarily difficult,
yet invigorating, challenge of service.

Make Breakthroughs
happen this summer.
It’s time to lead. Breakthrough teachers put in long hours,
stretch themselves in new ways, face obstacles unlike any other
they’ve seen, and they are thankful for the opportunity. Breakthrough
teachers create real societal change, and they play an essential
role in sending deserving kids to college. In their spare time,
they grow, develop as leaders, and have fun doing it.
The application for summer
2008 is now closed. Check out TeachBreakthroughs
for more on the Breakthrough teacher community, and keep an eye out
for the summer 2009 application coming in the fall.
Teaching with Breakthrough is a volunteer experience,
but living expenses stipends are provided, along with housing and
AmeriCorps Education Awards at select locations.
